Portfolio

Okay here's some old stuff. I miss my crafting days. They're picking up again though. My girls Jackie and Sabrina and I are venturing out and starting up an actual business with LLC and all! We're still working on a business name so feel free to shout out some ideas. Its all pretty crazy. We're beginning our many sewing get togethers not only for the business but also for fundraisers at school. Our kids are in 4H this summer and so our first step out with be holding a table out at fair. Cross our fingers that we do well. From there we plan to hit the many boutiques in the pearl including the one I already sell at in NE Portland. Keep a look out for upcoming websites!

Been too Long

I haven't worked on my photography in ever. My mom was just asking to go through my art recently for frameable pieces in her new laundry room...soooo I thought I might post a few of the old favorites.

Breaking the Fast

After far too long staying away from my sewing machine and getting wrapped up in life, I got the opportunity to do a little more sewing. I made some things for my sister-in-law's baby shower for my very newest nephew Reid Micheal. I made her three sets of double sided flannel receiving blankets (my favorite for swaddling) and matching burp cloths to go with. I also made her a boppy cover and nursing cover in coordinating fabrics but only have the pic of the boppy cover. The picture in the car is of course of my adorable new nephew and his boppy cover hanging out on the boppy in the car with him.

Favorite Fabrics

I'm sure its pretty clear by my previous posts that I am a fan of Alexander Henry Fabrics. I have recently come across a new love. I first discovered her fabrics when buying a pair of booties for my brother and his wife's first baby. They just found out that its a boy and I wanted to send a little something. I am sending them these adorable little booties. I began to admire the other items in this sellers boutique and of course fell in love with all of her work. Its amazing. Her boutique is called Maya Elise Boutique. If ever you're looking for a good baby gift, this would be the place to go. From here I fell in love with Heather Ross Fabrics. I am really hoping to come up with some products soon from her line of fabrics. This burp cloth set was my inspiration!
Go check it out. I'm in love!

Finished Products

I have the finished sports (bug jar quilt) pictures here and the boppy cover I made to go with the theme in a very fun "baseball game" Alexander Henry fabric. I will be sending these off as gifts tomorrow. I found that the fabric boppy cover versus the minky or flannel ones I've made fit differently. They're much tighter given that the fabric doesn't have any stretch. I almost want to cut it slightly bigger next time so that when its washed there won't be issues with it fitting.

Bug Jar Quilt Blocks

I've made this quilt for my sister-in-law's new baby scheduled to arrive this month. His bedroom will be shared with his older brother which is red, white, and blue, sports themed. I found this fun quilt block pattern on the web called a "Bug Jar Quilt Block". As you can see the blocks are jars filled with different sports balls. I'm excited to finish it as you can see, I have only finished the top of the quilt. The colors turned out perfectly for the colors of the nursery. I'm not the biggest fan of the sports theme but enjoyed making this quilt especially because the creator of at least two of the fabrics is Henry Alexander.

Alexander Henry Print

Today's newest smock is so far one of my favorites and probably because it is made from an Alexander Henry print. He is one of my favorite fabric designers. I originally was out looking for his apples and pears fabric that is wildly popular and seen everywhere but I couldn't find it in fabric depot. Can you believe that? They had an entire wall of Alexander Henry fabric and not one bolt of any of his apples and pears fabric. But I fell in love with this one. I hadn't seen it before. Alexander Henry also has a huge line of asian fabrics that are incredible.

You can also see my posting for this new apron in my Auntie M's store on etsy.
